Barber's shop
Genoa
Acquired from heiress Giacalone, 1992

A sophisticated "installation" linked with popular culture that will continue to perform its original function over time.

The small barber's shop, set up by Giacalone in 1882, in the heart of the historic centre of Genoa, was renovated in terms of furnishing by his son, Italo, in 1922, in the Art Déco (Liberty - Art Nouveaux) style. Against a background of traditional white tiles, the play of stained glass on the walls and the ceiling, the lampshades and reflections in the oval mirrors is enchantingly festive. The small shop (10 sq.m.) was purchased by the Genoa Delegation, with funds provided by local authorities and private citizens.
