The villa
The majestic villa overlooks the peaceful pre-Alpine landscape of Valcuvia.

Built in the 1500s as a country villa, it later became a representative noble residence and was embellished, in the first half of the XVIII century, with an imposing Italian garden, one of the most majestic and harmonious landscape creations today surviving in Italy. The interiors preserve one of the most sophisticated and unitary decorative cycles of the Lombard 1700s, essentially attributable to Varese workshop of Magatti. The body of the villa is flanked by interesting farm buildings, including cattle sheds, stables, cellars, hay lofts and a monumental wine press.

Opening times | MARCH-SEPTEMBER: 10 am - 6 pm. OCTOBER, NOVEMBER and second half of FEBRUARY: 10 am - 5 pm. Open every day except Mondays and Tuesdays (unless public holidays). Groups and school visits are also welcomed on Tuesdays with prior booking. The library is open on Sunday only and on prior booking for groups. LAST ENTRANCE: half an hour before closing. |

Travel information | The Villa is situated 20 km north of Varese and 65 km north of Milan. Take A8 "Laghi" Motorway Milan-Varese, direction Sesto Calende-Gravellone Toce. Exit Vergiate-Sesto in direction of Besozzo-Laveno. From Gemonio, continue to Valcuvia-Luino as far as Casalzuigno. FAI properties in the vicinity: |
