La villa della regina Margherita, fu costruita tra il 1914 e il 1915 sotto la direzione dell'architetto milanese Luigi Broggi, per volontà della sovrana che ne volle fare la sua residenza privata per i freddi mesi invernali. La villa, costruita in stile barocco fu dotata di tutti i confort disponibili a quell'epoca, fra cui anche un ascensore. La villa è inoltre dotata di un grande parco che era stato progettato da Ludwig Winter, lo stesso che aveva concepito e creato i giardini Hanbury alla Mortola. La villa fu inaugurata il 25 febbraio 1916 e la prima regina d'Italia iniziò a frequentarla con assiduità, in particolare da maggio a dicembre, quando poi tornava a Roma per trascorrere il Natale con la famiglia. Questa villa vide ospiti illustri, non solo molti membri della nobiltà italiana e straniera, ma anche uomini politici e artisti, come i famosi pittori Pompeo Mariani e Vittorio Matteo Corcos, e lo scrittore Salvator Gotta.
